Alberta Pond Hockey Turnament
20 February 2011
During the weekend of Feb 17-20 2011 Peace River held the 5th annual Alberta Pond Hockey Championships on Lac Cardinal. The tournament was comprised of 80 teams from all over Western Canada in pursuit of pond hockey supremacy. They cleared 20 acres of snow of the south-east end of the lake to make room for the festival grounds that consisted of 13 outdoor rinks and a huge tent that housed the change room, kitchen and beer gardens. .
We had the privilege of playing all day Friday in the beer gardens. It was a wonderful -35 degrees on the lake, but luckily they had "fire cannons" heating the room in the tent and by the stage. We had a great day out on the lake and in the beer tent! Check out these pictures and enjoy.
