Commonwealth with Bon Jovi & Kid Rock
On July 15 2010 we had the opportunity to play at Commonwealth Stadium, opening up for Bon Jovi and Kid Rock. Needless to say it was an amazing time, unbelievable show and the opportunity of a life time!
For those that haven't heard the story; We entered an online contest on OurStage.com for the chance to play the opening slot with Bon Jovi. We created a profile on the site and uploaded our single "I'll Still Call". For the first few weeks of the contest people could go to OurStage.com and listen to the bands and vote for who they wanted to win. At the end of the fan voting the top 30 finalists, out of the aprox. 230 bands that entered, would continue on to the final round, where Bon Jovi and his management team would look through all the profiles and pick the winner.
Throughout the fan voting portion of the contest our position hovered around the top ten and we finished at #15. Right before the final round we recevied an email from the OurStage team telling all the finalists to make sure there profiles had lots of content for the judges to peruse. At that time we still only had the one song on our page and a quick bio and photo. We spent the next two days putting together the content for the site. We put up 4 songs off our new album and 2 live videos. Check out the profile here

Then we waited. We knew they were going to decide sometime over the next few weeks, but had no final decision date.
Friday afternoon Dan got a call from Bon Jovi's management and they told him three things. One - We had won the opening slot! Two - They added another act to the show... Kid Rock! Three - Dan wasn't allowed to tell anyone the news until the official press release on Monday! Not even Dean or Rod! So Dan did what any one in that situation would do - He left town for the weekend!
Monday morning on his way back to Kelowna he got the official call from 100.3 The Bear in Edmonton and the news spread quick. Across the radio, internet, fan sites, friends and family. From there everyone waited anxiously for the big day!
We were then escorted into the stadium through the back entrance, given all our passes and shown to our dressing room.
Kid Rock was sound checking as we walked down to the stage. We took the opportunity to check out the backstage area and listen to their sound check.
When Kid Rock's sound check was done and the band off stage, the stage crew helped us bring all our gear on stage and set it all up. We started our sound check, played through a couple songs and the monitor mix was amazing. Everyone on stage and behind the consoles were great to talk to and deal with.
During our last sound check song the stage manager walks over and tells us to stop and get off stage, "We are doing pyro tests in 30 seconds, get your stuff and head off. Fire in 10". As we were walking off the back of the stage fire was shooting all around the stage.
We invited our good friend and photographer Jaime Vedres to come to the show and photograph our set. All the next photos are of our set and shot by Jaime.

The show was truly the most amazing thing you can do in a band. The crowd was great, we shared some laughs, they were dancing and rocking along with us. By the end of our set we were told there were over 40,000 people in the stadium listening and watching us. It was an intense and amazing feeling to be able to play our music to such a huge crowd at such a big show.
After our set we watched Kid Rock from back stage for a while, then went out into the crowd and joined our family and friends to enjoy the amazing show put on by Kid Rock and Bon Jovi!
Bon Jovi played for over two and a half hours and they gave their all the entire time.
