The Malibu Knights have been on the road for a year and a half now and loving every minute of it. Playing shows of all sizes, from small intimate Jasper pubs to huge outdoor festivals. The Knights have had great success on the road opening for acts like Bif Naked, Gob, Marianas Trench, Swollen Members, and Kevin Rudolf. The bands greatest success story to date will unfold this summer when opening for Bon Jovi and Kid Rock at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on July 15th.
Their debut album ...Since Happy Hour followed by 2 acoustic tours of Western Canada gave them a taste of the road, lifestyle and rewards of playing their own tunes for new people every night. The band then started to experiment with new bigger sounds; drums, electric guitars, and pedals - this quickly became a new obsession. Their self titled EP was released in the summer of 2009 featuring a full band and the single I’ll Still Call, a track produced and mixed by #1 charting New Zealand producer Jonathan Campbell. The track immediately started getting air play in Western Canada especially in hometown Kelowna and was nominated for Rock Recording of the Year at the BCIMA’s. The band took this sound on the road going on five more tours in support of the EP.
In late November 2009, The Knights got back in the studio with Jonathan and local award winning engineer Adam Wittke and they started production on the new album. The record is focusing on the energy of the live show, the powerful vocals of songwriter and front man Dan Harden and the adventures of life on the road. The album will be quite diverse having both Jonathan and Adam producing their favorite songs from The Knights and will be released on July 6th this summer.
The Malibu Knights hit the road in early April indefinitely and are sure to create a stir in Western Canada. With such a diverse set list and the ability to play any size venue keep your eyes and ears open for them on the road, playing for their lives.
